Thailand Expatriate

Down!

What a pleasant surprise I had today. I couldn't believe my eyes when the figure 30.68 Baht was staring right in front of my eyes when I pull up at the petrol station today. 30.68 Baht! That's almost 8 Baht (0.8sen) plunge overnight! Now this is the price of Gasohol 91 which I have been using since the day oil prices when up. The normal Benizine petrol also went down but then it is below the 40 Baht mark now, which I am sure everybody gleefully accept.

"1,000 Baht" I told the pump attendant. Yes, in Thailand, it is still service industry and I can have the luxury to sit inside the car under the air con, relax and listening to Kenny Rogers song, happily watching the meter went almost 3/4 full. Wow, am I a happy man. Gone are the days when it reach slightly more than half and that's it. Well, I hope it will be gone forever…38 Baht per liter.

And when I drove back from Bangkok to Rayong, the meter shows halfway mark only.

This means, price of petrol here is almost close to back home and I am pretty sure most people will now not be driving to Southern Thailand border to enter Malaysia to fill up their tanks now.

And more people will be driving leisurely for travelling, like me.

And more people will be driving out to the market to buy stuff unlike previously they prefer to buy it from nearby 7-11. (They have brisk business then, those who opens 7-11.

And more people will be keeping their bicycle at home, like me.

Hurrah.

Now, the question here is, prices here can go up but then it can come down to the basic level too. Hmm..wonder if KL can do that? Come to think of it, prices of oil that went up never ever came down before, huh? I wonder……
