Security in Thailand and Malaysia
I was back in KL for a holiday when my Dad ask me, "Say, heard the security in Bangkok is not good and in a chaos, is that true?" I say , "What? No kidding…security in KL is worse than in Bangkok and Bangkok is as peace as anything. I can even go out anywhere without worrying for any people to come from behind and snatch my wife's handbag away". Just to give you an idea what my in-laws, mom, dad and typically everybody when I met when I came back advise me:- a) Don't hang your handbag on the back, people will snatch it off anytime before you know it. In Bangkok, you can hang your handbag anywhere you like without even worrying about somebody tapping your shoulder, let alone snatch it off. b) When you drive the car, please put the SmartTag equipment away from the dashboard so that nobody can see it. Somebody saw this and smash off the windscreen and took both the SmartTag and the CD player away. Come to think of it, I even left my laptop in my car when I go shopping in Bangkok. c) My sis apartment in the city encourages every to install grilles on their condos and apartment, even the 26th Floor is not spared and somehow, thieves manage to break in and got away with expensive stuff. I shudder when I thought of the guy who got the nerve to climb in the window at such a high floor. If I were to put a live wire on the grille, that will send his body a huge shock and he will fall to his death, good for him. In Bangkok? I slept well every night without even have to bother about anything at all. Never have I heard of theft in condo and apartment. So, is security in Thailand or rather everywhere except the Southern Part, which is 1000km from Bangkok, safer or is it in Johor Baru or KL safer? Gimme Bangkok anytime.
